Being heavily influenced by sight of construction work that Al Ajmani has been exposed to daily throughout her life, These Working Hands is a reflection of the constant development that citizens of the UAE have become so accustomed to. It is the individual builder’s personal narrative interlaced with forces of nature and engineering working side-by-side with industrial machinery to create something new that dominates its surrounding habitat. While under construction, a building is being treated by machine, nature, and man, producing noise and leaving permanent marks, in an apparent chaotic relationship yet seemingly harmonious tactic.
